Here at Grenade®, we’re all about stepping out of our comfort zone and trying something new. Believe it or not, keeping fit isn’t all about sweating it out on the treadmill. You can get your heart rate racing in so many ways!
On our mission to prove that fitness doesn’t mean becoming a slave to the gym, we’ve tried out a number of weird and wonderful workouts, giving you an insight into the many ways you can get moving and have a laugh at the same time!
First up – Aqua Yoga! We sent our Partnerships and Affiliates executive Kat to try out the exciting FloatFit Balance class, a 30-minute session designed to boost mental well being, challenge balance and strengthen the body and mind. Here’s what she thought!
WHAT WAS YOUR EXPECTATION OF THE CLASS?
I was excited to attend the class! It’s something I had never heard of before so I was intrigued to see how it worked and what it was like.
TALK US THROUGH THE CLASS...
You get into the pool first then climb onto the float. We then got stuck into the class. Started off with a couple of warm up stretches and exercises then got into the main part of the class. It involved some classic yoga positions like child’s pose and downward dog. Other exercises included standing squat on the mat.
There were 5 people in the class including myself all different ages and really friendly. The instructor was friendly and explained all the positions clearly etc throughout.
HOW DID YOU FIND THE CLASS?
It was definitely challenging and gave my core a workout! You can immediately tell when you stop engaging your core as the float will start to shake and you have visions of you falling off the float into the pool! That alone was enough to keep my core engaged throughout the whole session!
WHAT DID YOU ENJOY THE MOST ABOUT THE CLASS?
I think it’s a fun way to keep fit! I am such a water baby so loved the idea of incorporating yoga and water together! Fitness doesn’t have to be boring and slogging it out on a treadmill for an hour, this is a great example of a fun new way to keep fit and challenge yourself!
WHAT DIDN'T YOU ENJOY?
I think the shortness of the class, it could do with being 45 mins to an hour however it’s a great quick class to do before work to get you set up for the day and moving!
WOULD YOU ATTEND THE CLASS AGAIN?
Yes, I really enjoyed it! I think it’s a great class and would be good fun to do on your own or bring friends along! I am also interested in trying the HIIT class which looked a bit more challenging and energetic!
WOULD YOU RECOMMEND THE CLASS?
100% would recommend! Fitness doesn’t need to be boring, it can be fun and exciting and that’s exactly what this class is!
